peeking my head out ....of hibernation
So I'm sitting here writing this and I should be getting ready to venture outside...what?.... wait...outside you say??? Yes, finally. It's almost 50F today. I don't think Michigan has seen that temp since, like, last year sometime??? But, the unfortunate part is...there's a constant 20 MPH south wind with gusts up to 40+. And there's nothing this girl hates more when riding but WIND. I know, I know...total wuus! Well, I did go walk outside and practically fell on my ass from all the melting snow/ICE. So, not sure if it's the best idea to be out on those roads today.
In celebration of a spring-like weekend, I ventured out yesterday afternoon to skate ski before the large accumulation of snow turns to mush. I'm glad I choose skate skis because they beat shuffling in the classic track any day and the speed rocks. The sun felt great yesterday beating down...I was purposely trying to soak it in. It seemed that the hills were placed perfectly into the sun so I could slowly make my way up and enjoy the beams on my face. The 8 foot wide groomed trail that they have was a little slushy in the sun and icy in the shade but after I got my confidence up - I was able to take the hills full out without totally biting it.

Looks like I'll be making a trip to Detroit this next week....Barry finally managed to convince his friend (who owns a snowplow business) to head out-west - west as in Colorado. They are heading out there to visit a buddy who happens to live in Breckenridge, for a week of snowboarding...and avoiding avalanches. He clinched the deal last night after consulting the Priceline Ne-go-ti-Ator. I'm pretty happy for him as I know he's been wanting to do this, um... 'man-trip' for a while. ---I think he's really just sick of me making my big swooping turns and complaining about my diggers.
ok, back to the basement...

Barry is taking a Man-cation. Sweet. I have always wanted one of those. Someday (sigh).
Skiing yesterday? Wow. It was very icy and sparse by us. Can't imagine skiing that. Glad you got out. It was a beautiful day!
